Law and Disorder
Sequel to Mens Rea.
James Carter and Derek Moore fought their way through attraction and misunderstandings and a whole lot of drama to get to where they are now - a slightly shaky balance between their easy familiarity and the bright shininess of new love. They're still figuring out how, and even if, they're going to make this work because a relationship is a big thing to fit between the demands of their careers and the stress of finding a place for each other in already-busy lives.
Things only get more difficult when a murderer with a serious grudge against the justice system starts ramping up their crimes. Law enforcement officers and lawyers all across the city find themselves living in fear as their careers put them right in the cross-hairs of a deranged killer. Suddenly, all the little problems that seemed so big when they were trying to find the perfect balance between their love for their jobs and their love for each other don't seem so big at all. The bigger concern is whether both of them are going to survive long enough for James to get to the bottom of the case, and set them on the path to that happily ever after they want so badly.
